McLeod Oil Wells Produce 70 Barrels in 12 Hours Turner Valley

McLeod No 2 and No 3 wells in Turner Valley report a 12 hour bail of 70 barrels of high gravity oil starting midnight to noon with production test planned by Friday night. Wells sit 3200 feet deep with 35 foot sand, while storage tanks are erected on location for anticipated output.

Boy Burns After Falling Into Bonfire Near Home

Kenneth Deane, son of Charile and Mrs Deane, 826 Seventh Street, aided by his father, was severely burned when he touched a weed fire outside. The father tore ligaments and injured his back in the rescue but both father and son are improving with burns to chest neck face and ear.

Cyclone Hits Farm Near Strausburlg

A cyclone struck the Fred Unger farm eight miles northwest of Strausburg, Sask, around 2 PM on Thursday, followed by a cloudburst. A twister damaged Unger’s implement shed 100 by 50 feet, tearing the roof and east wall. hail fell but crops were largely undamaged.

Mr J Y Surrey of Elkwater submitted a striking brome grass sample to The News today standing 5 ft 7 in with forty acres of growth. The specimens are displayed in Pingle's Drug and Book Store window on Second Street.

Two Men Killed By Governor General Train Near Moncton

John Lambie of Harcourt Kent County and Archibald McEachern of Salem Massachusetts died instantly when their car stalled on a Canadian National Railway crossing and was struck by the Governor General's special train forty one miles west of Moncton. McEachern leaves a wife and two children, Lambie was unmarried. The car was hit as it stalled on Mortimer crossing west of Harcourt. The train stopped and both men were dead at the scene.

Steamer Bay Rupert Strikes Rocks off Labrador Coast

SOS from the steamship Bay Rupert, a 2415 ton British vessel, reports being fast on rocks at about 55.9 N 5949 W on the Labrador coast. The ship sailed from Andressen June 16 bound for Montreal, with St Johns, Newfoundland, broadcasting the distress.

University Men Tour From Montreal To Pacific Coast

A 150 strong French Canadian party organized by the University of Montreal and the Canadian Pacific Railway visited Victoria and Vancouver after sightseeing. They depart Lake Louise for the return voyage. About forty percent are university men or graduates while the rest are Quebec professionals and businessmen. Aimee McPherson Faces Temple Dispute in California

Angelus Temple workers voice a discord seen as troubling by founder Aimee Semple McPherson. Her mother Minnie Kennedy calls the issue trifling and says Aimee will settle matters on arrival in California after stopping revival work in Alton Alabama and departing for Los Angeles.

Prominent Chinese Contractor Asked to Be Buried at the Coast

Vancouver July 22. Yip Sang pioneer Chinese contractor and merchant who helped build the C P R in British Columbia died just before midnight at his home 61 Pender Street East Vancouver. He requested burial in Canada. Survived by nineteen relatives. He planned to be buried in the Coast and had left China forty five years ago for San Francisco before settling in British Columbia. He supervised thousands of Chinese laborers for the Canadian Pacific Railway and later founded Wing Sang Co now at 61 Pender Street East.
