Ottawa targets 1800 fraudulent Canadian citizenship cases

The federal government says it will revoke the citizenship of at least 1,800 people who allegedly used fake residency proof. Immigration Minister Jason Kenney cited a small group of overseas consultants who allegedly orchestrated most cases and warned of ongoing criminal investigations while noting most applicants abroad may not contest revocation.

Hatters consider citywide LED streetlight retrofit

City of Medicine Hat survey shows 87 percent of 141 respondents favor installing LED streetlights. There are 163 lights now, mainly in Ranchlands and Southlands, with several active for over two years and zero failures. City official Khan says Medicine Hat could become Alberta's first municipality to replace all lights within eight years.

Man Charged in Fraud Case In Gas City Slo P itch

Joseph Leonard, 40, appeared in Provincial Court on charges of fraud over 5000 related to alleged theft from the Gas City Slo Pitch Association of more than 40000. Leonard, former president of the group, sought adjournment to secure counsel with the matter adjourned to August 17.
