The report claims Austro German gains in Carnia and a renewed Isonzo push. German forces threaten Warsaw and the Polish capital may soon evacuate. In the east the Russians retreat along multiple fronts as German and Austrian offensives press.
Mrs Hedley wife of Rev Canon Hedley rector of St Johns Anglican church was struck and killed by a C P R train at Current River Park while she ran onto the bridge to save her daughter Helen 12. The tragedy occurred this afternoon in Port Arthur Ontario.
Mr C C Robinson of Clay Robinson Co Chicago will be in the city Thursday to speak at 7 30 pm in City Hall under the Western Stockgrowers Association banner. All interested in cattle business invited to attend.
Fall brings another weasel influx to the city threatening poultry. Mr. Newmarch reports removing a large weasel before it caused damage to chickens this morning.
London reports that the Berlin Norddeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung prints what claims to be 1912 negotiations for an Anglo German rapprochement. Viscount Haldane as war secretary figures in the despatch via Reuters from Berlin and Amsterdam. Germany favored neutrality terms. England rejected them as too vague to form a treaty.
Samuel Gompers, president of the American Federation of Labor, called a Washington conference of International Association of Machinists officers to consider the strike at Remington Arms plant in Bridgeport. He aimed to prevent a general stoppage and alleged foreign interests sought to disrupt wartime supplies to Europe. He declined to reveal details, saying he would keep information private for now.
Mrs. H. V. Kemp died and Miss Margaret Wright along with Mr. Percy Foster were seriously injured when the automobile they rode in careened over a 50 foot embankment beside the Woodland cemetery in London Ontario. The car rolled over trapping the occupants.
Winnipeg reports the region needs six weeks of hot dry weather and light winds to mature crops. Manitoba expects a fair average with good weather. Saskatchewan warns of uneven crops and weeds despite possible average yields. Alberta shows a tremendous grain stand but requires six weeks of optimal weather to harvest without loss.
London reports Premier Asquith announcing war expenditure for the first 17 days of July at 54,000,000 pounds with daily rise. He estimates 100,000,000 pounds more could carry Britain to September end and notes possible changes to the vote of credit allowing loans or grants to other states allied or not yet in the war.
A major Supreme Court suit from Minneapolis Dr C H Koehler against Stoner Lockwood and Wheeler of Redcliff seeks about 650000 in damages. The case covers Redcliff Realty Co stock sales contested agency formations and related deals with CN R and Redcliff industries. Koehler testified detailing protests against the firms and alleged misdealings amid a long, evidence-heavy proceedings expected to last days.
The Citizens Relief Committee notes the need for suitable help with harvest and offers cooperation to farmers. It acknowledges funds received through Times Relief, including $25 from John J. A. Hunt and $50 from M. Sackrider.

Orillia Ontario fire destroyed the municipal and opera house building this Saturday with only bare walls left standing. Municipal records were saved and the total loss is about 400.
St Catharines Ontario reports Pho Dosworth aged 50 years was found drowned in the old Welland canal after being missing from his daughter’s home since Tuesday.
The Winnipeg South Liberals announced tonight the nomination of Hon. A. B. Hudson and W. L. Parrish for upcoming provincial elections. The report notes anticipation surrounding the Medicine Hat Light Act and references the paper’s Thursday edition.
