Acting on Premier Asquith's advice King George requests two representatives from each party to meet in consultation. Speaker Lowther to preside over the conference as the nation seeks to discuss Irish political issues.
London July 20 Premier Asquith announced King George has summoned a roundtable conference of British and Irish party leaders to discuss Irish government. The invitees include two representatives from each side and the conference may begin tomorrow. The Home Rule Amending bill's second reading was set for Monday.
In Stettler Alberta on Sunday morning, Robert Grant of Gadsby drowned after a cramp while crossing a water body about sixteen feet wide. His companion escaped unharmed and was brought to Penhold for safety.
Ottawa, July 20. A trust mortgage filed in the secretary of state's office shows the Canadian Northern Railway Company pledges debenture stock to the National Trust Company. Date February 21, 1914. Stock bears four and a half per cent interest and matures in 1930. Total stock limited to the difference of 15 000 per mile on Manitoba lines Westgate to Elwood. Stock may issue at par, discount, or premium. Rank pari passu and secured equally with no preference by issue date.
Edmund Parslow a homesteader from Tilley died in hospital though locals cannot identify him by name. The corpse lies at Nott's undertaking parlors and friends are urged to share information to aid the dead man's relatives.
Columbus July 20 the Ohio legislature convened at ten this morning for an extraordinary session per Governor Cox call. The body will devote its work to reducing the State tax levy under the Warnes tax law. the tax duplicate has risen millions and the Governor recommends a lower rate. The session is expected to adjourn within the week.
Vancouver news reports plan to deploy the naval cruiser Rainbow with regular troops to overpower Hindu defenders aboard the Komagata Maru. British sailors from Davenport and the Niobe expected to join as the Rainbow sails from Victoria to Vancouver to establish a fighting base. Two Social-Democrat women attacked the editor of the Schwadische Zeitung in Stuttgart.
July 20 Portsmouth England the British home fleet of over 200 fighting ships and an equal number of auxiliaries was reviewed by King George aboard the royal yacht. The procession included the Prince of Wales Winston Churchill and lords of the admiralty as sea planes circled above during a two hour pass.
