Canadian premiers seek progress with Indigenous groups

In Bouctouche New Brunswick Premier Brian Gallant and other leaders hosted a brief session with CAP and the Native Women’s Association of Canada after three major groups the Assembly of First Nations Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami and the Metis National Council declined to attend. Discussions centered on economic partnerships and Indigenous children in care with CAP chief Robert Bertrand and Native Women’s Association president Francyne Joe present. Northwest Territories Premier Bob McLeod suggested exploring new approaches to engage more groups.
