Cork City endured terror as street fighting broke out after a bayonetting incident. About 10 p.m. indiscriminate firing hit one dead and 14 wounded, with military patrols armored cars and volunteers aiding civilians. Most injuries in the north with patrols quieting streets after midnight.
Lethbridge reports Provincial Police uncover an unidentified man found in a CPR culvert two miles from Burmis. The throat was slashed, the body only wearing union underwear, dragged to the hiding place. Suspected to be a miner from Crow's Nest camps.

In Sydney on July 19 a Waterford Black man fled after being accused of mistreating a white girl aged 14. A mob of miners chased him for about a mile and a half before he evaded capture by slipping into dense brush.

Hay Winnipeg reports the Canadian Pacific lines agree to join with the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks in the board’s wage decision. Grand President H L Fitzgerald to conduct a first hand Canadian labor-conditions inquiry.
Guy Skidmore of Laguna Beach was wounded when his revolver, left on the automobile seat, discharged as he drove through a canyon hunting squirrels. The sun reflected on the weapon through the windshield. The details of the incident were uncertain.
City Engineer R. B. Pyper and City Foreman W. Jackson were severely burned after descending a manhole near Ogilvie Mills and Dunmore bridge. Witnesses heard cries as a fire ignited gas in the chamber, clothes burned off, bills recovered from Jackson’s pocket, both taken to hospital.

Columbus July 17 Governor Cox democratic presidential hopeful told a deputation from the national Woman's Party led by Miss Alice Paul that he will use his influence to press Tennessee ratification of the federal suffrage amendment. He spoke before leaving for Washington to meet with President Wilson and his running mate Franklin D Roosevelt.
