Stampede Parade Dazzles Medicine Hat With Best Ever Crowd
Two rocket blasts at 9 30 a m launched the 1963 Stampede parade as about 28 000 residents and visitors praised the event. Crowds filled the streets for the floral floats bands and horse drawn displays while the Kinsmen entry drew top notice in a colorful train of cars and children. The weather held perfect for the celebration in Stampedeville.
Stampede Timetable For 1963 Rodeo Week
Official opening at 2:00 p.m. Thursday with exhibits livestock and midway. Night show at 7:00 p.m. Friday events include cattle sheep swine judging horse show children’s parade and family day rodeo at 2:00 p.m. Saturday features a 9:00 a.m. Soap Box Derby.
Colorful Parade Opens With Cowboys and Floats
A morning parade showcased vibrant floats, floral decks, and colorful costumes through downtown. Cowboys appeared in senior and junior divisions, led by the Cartwright family from the Ponderosa. awards were given for antique cars, industrial and comic floats, and 4-H entries with winners named across multiple categories.
