A car carrying nine people from Farrell Pennsylvania to home after a Dundee visit was struck by a railroad passenger locomotive and hurled into the Raising river. The victims include Mr and Mrs Mary Schuster and three daughters, plus four others from the same Farrell family.
A. L. Troelstrup, University of Arizona graduate, began a 4000 mile canoe voyage from Milk River Alberta near the border to New Orleans. He reached Havre Montana today for the journey’s first leg. The Milk River Rapids nearly cost him his life as foaming waters tossed the small craft before a rocky shore beaching.
In Los Angeles on July 17 the wife murder trial of Robert James moved closer to verdict after defence testimony. James denies harming his seventh bride, an expectant mother, as rebuttal witnesses described alleged torture with rattlesnakes. Jury deliberations set to begin Tuesday in a courtroom warned against circus-like conduct.
A dinner meeting in Maple Creek on Tuesday July 21 will gather ranchers from southeastern Alberta. Speakers include Hon. George Spence, Dr. F H Aula Saskatchewan deputy minister of agriculture, and J J Smith Saskatchewan deputy minister of municipal affairs to discuss livestock issues and other farming matters.

T Johnson of Beebeve Alta and Taft Hergert of Endicott had leg injuries. The tourists’ car left the highway and rolled in a ditch as Taft Hergert signalled a turn. State patrolmen continue investigation.
Hadley Gaddis of Tamora Alabama died at Fort Francis hospital as the second victim of a Truck crash on the Rainy River road Monday.
BISLEY CAMP July 18 Sergt L D Busschau of South Africa won the Historic Kings Prize with a 272 score the best in the final stage of the National Rifle Association competition. Sergt J A Johnson also of South Africa scored 271 while Regimental Sergt Mayor Jim Kiddie of Toronto led eight Canadians with 267.
In the week ending, cattle and hogs softened on Canadian markets while hot weather slowed movements. Export demand declined in the United States with Britain remaining the sole active outlet, mainly from Ontario and Alberta. Toronto and Montreal posted lower cattle prices, hogs topped near 9.75, and lambs weakened with varied regional quotes across Winnipeg Calgary and Toronto.

Rev. Father Adalbert Blondin, once in Ottawa, and a Capuchin missionary in Ethiopia, was killed when a mission station at Wassera was looted on May 15. Brother Beniet Blondin barely escaped. he is now safe in Dubbo. Father Adalbert, born in Montreal in 1896, had most of his life tied to Ottawa. he left a brother and sister in Ottawa and siblings in New York.
