London reports King George postpones a royal visit to the fleet to monitor talks among party leaders over Ulster exclusion and Home Rule terms. Burdened by a deadlock, Asquith and Birrell retreat for the weekend as divisions linger and leaders push for a workable settlement involving Tyrone and Tyrone’s inclusion.
A man identified as George Bradbury shot himself at John Stanker’s farm one mile east of Cross near Ma le Creek early this week. He had been in poor health and despondent for three days while resting at the farm, and used a house gun to blow his head off.
Henry Stewart criticizes the Valley Road project funding and the Maple Leaf Milling Company's site choice as lacking a written agreement. John Schroeder of Walsh drowned in a dam at the Sarnia Ranch near Walsh. He was swimming with Roy Grant and several boys when he disappeared after Grant left the water. Doctors reported the death as apoplexy discovered after Schroeder’s body was found in shallow water. The tragedy follows a prior shooting death in Walsh Springs.
Alberta plans to secure ready money for farmers, says Treasurer Charles R. Mitchell. The government backs credit lines proposed by the Tory commission and aims for constructive funding to improve farming and agricultural education while expanding provincial rail transport network led by Arthur Bitton.
The three masted Bermuda schooner Jennie A Pickles of Annapolis ran aground in thick fog at Chance Harbor twenty miles down the Bay of Fundy. Her deck loss occurred at half tide. She carries molasses and is owned by F W Pickles and Company of Annapolis.

Sandown Park England July 18 Redfern the favorite won the National Breeders Produce Stakes for two year olds, a $26,000 five furlong race. Sun Umbrella finished second at 10 to 1, and Elkington trailed third at 100 to 8 for I Neumann.

Henry Botsford, a well to do farmer, was killed in a well on his Alberta property when gas incapacitated him during a digging. His wife attempted to haul him to the surface but he died before help could reach him. He leaves a widow and one child. The family came to Alberta from western Ontario.
Edward Potter and Gordon Duncan, two teamsters, were arrested on arrival in Medicine Hat after a short trip in a side-door Pullman. Each pleaded guilty in court and paid a $5 fine plus costs. A.B. Parker, later arrested for trespassing on a railway bridge, paid a $2 fine and costs. In Boston a separate suit seeks officers to prosecute $306,000,000 against NYH and Hartford railroad directors and estates on behalf of minority stockholders Whipple Sears & Ogden represent.
Sir George Paish suggests in The Statist that if Ulster talks fail two impartial arbiters, Sir Robert Borden of Canada and Premier Cook of Australia, be invited as a Hague tribunal to decide points at issue. He argues their experience with autonomy makes them suited to judge Home Rule and Imperial perspectives amid Irish, Scottish and English interests. Regina reports July 17 notes few details.
Reports say General Huerta will depart from Puerto Mexico aboard the German cruiser Dresden with General Blanquet, bound for Jamaica. Refugees will not be accommodated on the Dresden, as preparations include using ships like the gunboat Bravo to move people and supplies.
