111 award-worthy animals competed at Stampede grounds as five district 4-H Beef Club members and district junior farmers vied for top honors. Entry totals reached 73 4-H and 38 open junior farmer entries under directors Jack Anderson and Mel Cameron.
The Medicine Hat 1963 Exhibitions and Stampede show closed with finals in six performance classes. Newtons Wimpy led with 74 points, followed by Senator Fred at 72 and Zebra Brandy and Clark's King at 70. Cougar Jack topped western riding in the second go round with 73, while Sage Page won junior reining with 73. Frank Carver judged all performance classes with Bun Burries assisting.
The Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede awarded top halter trophies Tuesday noon with seasoned mares and geldings leading the field. Wayward Cindy, shown by Weldon Rutledge, topped the 1959 or earlier mares, while Cougar Jack owned by K. K. Padget won the 1958 or older gelding colt class.
