Round the World Airmen Narrow Escape at Roosevelt Field
Hugh derndon Jr and Clyde Pang Jr attempted a dawn takeoff for a round the world flight. Their heavily fueled craft sped down the 4800 foot field embankment, dumped 600 of 850 gallons to lighten, then narrowly cleared a hangar poles and trees before circling back and landing.

Drowning Death of Horsham Child Gerald Moodie
The one and a half year old Gerald Moodie son of Mr and Mrs Charles H Moodie of Horsham drowned after wandering from companions and being found in a watering trough. Local doctor first aided him and then rushed to Medicine Hat General Hospital where he died en route.
