District ranchers plan a stampede dinner featuring spotted dog and plum duff for VIPs at opening ceremonies. Henry Cavan, the instigator, will oversee mixing currants and suet. Calgary steaks to be served. Governors Bonner and Tanner attend. parade forms with 43 floats led by Miss Esther Mayer.
Official greetings from the state of Montana will be brought to the Medicine Hat stampede on opening day by Gov. John W. Bonner who will arrive tomorrow morning by plane with a party of nine. The Montana governor and his party will be official visitors at the stampede along with provincial mines and resources minister N. E. Tanner who will open the three day stampede. Both officials will be treated to a plum duff supper.
A massive blaze destroyed Jasper Park Lodge in Alberta turning the world’s largest log structure to ashes. One hotel employee, Len P. Peters of Ottawa, was severely burned and flown to Edmonton in critical condition. about 300 guests and 500 hotel staff evacuated without further injuries as flames lit the night sky and reflected on Lac Beauvert.
The Havre 1952 exhibition and stampede parade will march through downtown starting at 10 am. It features 40 floats five or six bands mounted cowboys and cowgirls ranch spreads decorated cars and more. Parade route extends from North Railway to the city garage for extended viewing with judges and a long list of participants including Havre Band Desert Arabs and several commercial and industrial floats.
