In Rome premier Mussolini secured a confidence vote on his electoral reform by a 303 to 140 margin with seven not voting. The result gives Mussolini the choice of extending his three year grip or calling a general election amid socialist and communist opposition.
Lausanne July 16 The Turkish delegation to the New East peace conference said it has accepted the Allied proposal to reopen expert discussions to settle outstanding issues. The parties had been at a deadlock over concessions in Turkey and other disputes delaying the conference.
A large group met at the Fifth Avenue Methodist Church on Sunday to form the Committee of One Hundred with officers President H. D. Marshall and Vice Presidents Dr. Gershaw Dr. McDonald and N. M. Waldo. An executive committee including J. Deif W F E McCombs Dr. Dixon J. W. Hamilton and others will plan policy and appoint subcommittees.
Medicine Hat News reports a buy price of five cents per pound for clean cotton rags offered to sellers. Local merchants note strong demand from textile shops and cleaning services.
A large depot of artillery ammunition exploded yesterday at Kraguyevurz, about 60 miles southeast of Belgrade. Reports say several people were killed and many injured, with considerable damage to surrounding areas. Authorities believe spontaneous combustion caused the blast.

Cross examination by the crown covered the night Raoul Delorme was killed and the path from the garage to LaBelle street. Eugene Delorme and others reported a bloodied hand, and the Latuthpe household wall was described as thin enough to hear noises.
At a District 18 executive board meeting in Calgary on July 16 the board decided no general sympathetic strike would be held in District 18 to support District 26 miners. Nova Scotia President Woll Sherman announced the decision and asked all unions to stay at work. Nordegg miners pledged support with one day’s wage, and officials were urged to hold a special conference before August 1 to back District 26. Nordegg local issued a $1000 check to Nova Scotia strikers. A mass meeting in Nordegg endorsed sending a wire to Canada’s Prime Minister.
Ottawa records three weekend fatalities including August Marts 67 killed by automobile and A Cornier who died after a streetcar collision. Robert Charboureau drowned while fishing. Captain Clifford Meckwan of Rockcliffe Airdrome sustained severe burns when an engine backfired.
On Saturday no official quotations or foreign currency prices were available as banks refused to buy marks. They stated it was impossible to obtain mark currency and prohibited to use foreign money, marking a rapid deterioration in the nation’s exchange situation.

Winnipeg January 15 Grant Hall vice president of the Canadian Pacific Railway returns to Winnipeg after surveying grain regions from Souris to Calgary. He reports no crop-damage signs and says plans are in motion to move the largest Western crop yet, with branch-line progress and track work continuing despite wet weather. Accompanying Hall were Coleman Black Dobell Allen Fowler and Whitmore among others.
Paris reports claim Premier Poincare’s Senlis address reiterates France’s Versailles treaty stance and rejects any international reparations body. London notes say the speech serves as an indirect rebuke to Baldwin and signals no concession to Britain’s position.
In the House of Commons London July 9.4 government will advise the United States of Britain’s position after Baldwin announced he would communicate the draft reply to the German reparations notes. Ramsay MacDonald pressed the question as leader of the Labour opposition.
