Ottawa reports consumer prices advanced just three tenths of an index point in June, easing from May and April gains. Food stayed below year-ago levels while housing, liquor, and tobacco nudged up the overall index, with radios and portable TVs pulling a small decline.
A World Bank mission warns President Yahya Khan to accelerate food delivery to East Pakistan to prevent mass starvation and a new exodus to India. It calls for removing West Pakistani troops, appointing a civilian administrator, an emergency food system, clear economic priorities, and restoring transport links to revive farms factories and firms.
