Ottawa reports two men Henrio Pasquale and Alex De Bortoli are to be executed at Okalla prison near Vancouver after BC courts convicted them of murdering two women. Pasquale stabbed a nurse at Vancouver General Hospital while receiving treatment and De Bortoli stabbed a woman companion during a quarrel.
Swift Current July 11 John Millard Haw ended his life at his farm six miles northwest of Bateman near five to six o'clock Friday evening He left a note saying he was tired of life and living alone He shot himself with a rifle near his house then walked about sixty yards to the stable where he was found by hired man Bob Lewis He was conscious and able to talk when found and died en route to hospital after Dr Bennett of Cabri treated him The deceased told on three occasions that he had done the act before dying The Batford coroner and police conducted an inquiry and a jury was summoned for the inquest
A man and a woman, traveling with Frank Hicklin, are involved in a fatal incident at a Chinook area farm one mile east of town. The woman died from a throat wound and Hicklin was severely injured. police investigate a dispute over a car key as the cause.
Canada’s June 30 crop report from the Dominion Bureau of Statistics estimates total wheat yield at 348,626,000 bushels for 1926. Prairie provinces expected 327,226,000 bushels with rest of Dominion at 21,400,000. Oats 458,840,000. barley 100,624,000. rye 11,762,000. flax 8,419,000.
