A district committee backed by the U F Y A asks local farmers and business people to subscribe to fund rainmaking work by Mr Hatfield. If successful, excess funds are returned. if not, subscriptions are refunded. Burdett and nearby districts have already contributed.
Thieves seized three Ford automobiles from the downtown area over the weekend. J. Ja Trotman’s car was taken on Saturday night on 6th Avenue between 2nd and 3rd streets. Alberta Provincial Police vehicle vanished from Huckvale Block before the A P offices. W P Purdy rancher’s car stolen from Riverside Park on Sunday night. Police urged owners to remove vehicle keys when leaving cars.

Two life term inmates, Vangorst and Montniaro, escaped from the New Westminster penitentiary while hospital patients. They escaped by feigning bed warmth and were not found until breakfast. Vangorst was jailed for robbing a man and dumping him from a boat into a gale. Montniaro, an Italian, shot a man in a dispute over a real estate deal.
