About 400 American farmers blocked Canadian trucks for three hours near Sweetgrass Montana claiming their beef prices fall due to U S packers rather than Canadian producers. They accuse multinational giants like Cargill Foods of unfair trade practices fueling the border protests.
Medicine Hat region unemployment fell to 3.7 percent in June, the lowest since 1984, with Alberta at 5.6 percent. The area added workers while housing starts rose, oil prices climbed above 19 dollars, and local lenders reported strong activity, though the food bank saw rising demand.
In Brockville Ontario police took three weeks to capture a roaming goat that damaged front lawns and flowers in an industrial park. After attempts failed they shot and killed the animal as it ran into traffic. Staff Sgt. Adrian Geraghty called it a wild goat and noted safety concerns.

Both face 18 counts including vandalism and conspiracy stemming from January charges.
