Weekend traffic toll in southern Alberta includes five deaths and four injuries. A head on collision east of Irvine killed four BC family members and critically injured a Stirling woman. A six year old Medicine Hat boy was treated for head and facial wounds after being struck in a parking lot. A Redcliff couple’s car rolled into a ditch near Schuler but the parents and two daughters survived. An inquest is ordered by the Medicine Hat coroner.

Couple Drowned Near Bassano Alberta In Canal Rescue
Mrs. Richard Hardin of Bassano and her seven year old daughter Connie drowned in an irrigation canal near Brooks Alberta. The girl reportedly fell in and her mother tried to rescue her but both were pulled under by a strong undercurrent ten feet from shore. Mrs Hardin's body was recovered later Sunday while the girl's body remained missing with ongoing dragging operations.
Air Crash Kills Two Near Pincher Creek
Two men died when their two seater aircraft crashed in a field about 18 miles southwest of Pincher Creek Alberta. Identified as Steve Tivador 36, a farmer from Glenwood district and Steve Yaklin 29 of Yarrlow British Columbia an oil refinery employee at the scene.
