France gives Premier Petain full power to draft new constitution
France’s national assembly voted to empower Premier Petain to draft a new totalitarian constitution and arrange a national referendum. The measure passed 395 to 3 in the chamber and 225 to 1 in the senate, with joint approval expected to make Petain a figurehead leader in a regime dominated by a triumvirate.

Injured Trapper Evacuated to Edmonton Hospital
Norman Todd a 34 year old trapper from Robers River 40 miles east of Fort Resolution on Great Slave Lake was admitted in Edmonton with a foot injury. His condition is complicated by diabetes and he was flown in yesterday by Milot Jack Moar of Canadian Airways from Fort Smith after two weeks treatment there.

Power to Amend B N A Act Granted in Canada
London July 10 royal assent was given in the House of Lords to a bill amending the British North America Act to empower Canadian parliament to pass an unemployment insurance scheme. The Commons spent 16 minutes approving the bill, which now goes to the Lords.

Justifiable Killing Named in Ontario Police Slaying
A coroner's jury in Navan Ont named John Miki a 54-year-old Finnish transient as the man who killed Ontario Provincial Police Constable Harold Dent on June 20 at the Navan railway station. Sergeant Allen Stringer of the Timmins detachment shot Miki in nearby woods about an hour later, in what the jury called justifiable homicide.

National Registration To Be Held During Four Days
