Mattern Rescued After Weeks Lost in Siberian Wilderness

Airman Jimmy Mattern, part of a round the world attempt, was forced to land in Siberia on June 1. He wandered the wilderness for three weeks and was taken to Anadyr on July 5 after engine trouble. He is unharmed and a new motor was supplied to continue the flight.

Blaze in Quebec Village Destroys Buildings and Burns Town

A fire in Causapascal Metapedia county Rimouski Quebec caused 250000 in damage. The blaze destroyed the International Paper offices a house a blacksmith shop several stores an aero plane hangar garage and a house. Local man Joseph A. Gerow dies after car crash injuries

Joseph A. Gerow of Medicine Hat aged 59 died in Duluth hospital from injuries suffered June 29 in a crash on Mitler Trunk Highway. He had been improving but a blood clot caused death. Mrs Gerow and two daughters Phyllis and Iva survive. Family lived at 30 Ninth Street Medicine Hat. Body sent to Whitby Ontario. Mrs Gerow remains hospitalized.
