Webworm threat prompts limited Endrin spray in Medicine Hat

An infestation of webworms threatening crops across the Medicine Hat district faces a shortage of Endrin, available only from Stauffer Chemical Co in Portland. About 150 gallons arrive Tuesday as 18 farmers with 1,200 plus acres have contracted spraying, with 2,200 acres protected so far. Spraying mainly by air should finish before pupation in two weeks. The worms, active June to August, attack alfalfa flax and grains, and are seen as army worms moving in large groups.

Weekend Mishaps Kill 7 Albertans

RCMP Recapture Mental Patient Near Langham
