A 14 year old girl gave herself up to police claiming she killed a 39 year old man with a shotgun at his townhouse in Edmonton. The youth, not a city resident, was charged with second degree murder after the body was found. Her name is protected under the Young Offenders Act and she was to appear in court today.
A pit bull released from quarantine after biting a woman last month attacked two more people over the weekend. Pound officials consider destruction as they review the dog’s case after three bites. The owner offered the dog for sale to a bystander. A separate Penticton note reports a five or six year old boy needed stomach surgery after swallowing a new Canadian dollar coin.
Alberta Opposition Leader Ray Martin urged the Attorney General to launch a full probe into the collapse of First Investors Corp and Associated Investors of Canada Ltd.
