Ottawa report says Health Minister MacEachen gave formal notice that the Commons will take an 11 week vacation from Friday to Sept 25, with the notice appearing on the Commons order paper. The briefing notes the government house leader announced the prorogation.

New regulations allow offenders charged with minor traffic offences to pay fines without court appearances. A police officer may issue a voluntary summons, payable anytime up to seven days before the court date. Fines range from five to twenty-five dollars. serious offences or accidents require court appearance.
Ottawa reports MPs will debate Kennedy Round tariff changes Friday after approving 1967-68 spending for seven federal departments.
