Eight Crown in Row Boat Disaster in the Ottawa River
Ottawa July 6 windrough waters of the Ottawa river swamped a rowboat sending eight people to their deaths. The group had been invited for a pleasure spin when the outboard motor stalled leaving them at the mercy of the waves. The dead include George Racicot 28 and siblings Maurice and Charles Laliberte 8 and 10, Theresa and Lillian Racicot 5 and 24, Alice Talbot 17, Calvin Fyth 17, Bernard Gosselin 17. Two boys Roland LaCroix 11 and Leo 9 survived by clinging to the overturned craft near the shore.
