A quad murder near Blue Island, reported by the coroner, says a man and his wife their married daughter and her child were slain as they slept last night. The killings were committed with an axe and discovered today.

Grant Hall Did Not Reach City
The visit of Grant Hall general manager of C P R western lines to the city did not happen. He motored from the end of the steel on the Lethbridge Weyburn line to Vanguard and after arriving at Swift Current returned east to Chicago. No new work is planned on the southeast line from Swift Current but the Bassano to swift Current cut off should be finished by October first. Close to 25 miles of rail are laid on the southwest line from Suffield and the Lethbridge Weyburn line is progressing. Alberta is expected to have a good crop with Manitoba and Saskatchewan bumper yields though southern Alberta may be light. P R passenger business is satisfactory and freight business is fair especially east bound. The Baraca Class of First Baptist meets tonight at eight. Lady Jane Stone widow of Sir Benjamin Stone died today four days after his death.

The Medicine Hat dog show opens at 9 o clock with benched dogs ready for judging and color and chain. Over 300 entries from across Alberta and western Canada plus several from Winnipeg and Ontario will compete, with judging at 1 pm Tuesday and show closing at 10 pm Wednesday. Emigration from the United Kingdom totaled 1,800,000 last year while immigration reached 1,600,000.
