Hailstorm Hits Alberta Near Edmonton and Calgary

A powerful storm battered Edmonton and Calgary with heavy rain and hail. Edmonton bore the brunt with flooded basements and a mall roof leak that soaked the Bonnie Doon centre. Rescue crews used boats to reach stranded motorists as streets flooded and a Sherwood Park freeway was shut. Fighter jet crashes at Cold Lake during training mission

A CF-18 from Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake crashed over Primrose Lake Air Weapons Range in northeastern Alberta during a routine training flight around 9 a.m. The search for the pilot is underway and the pilot’s name is being withheld until family notification. It follows another CF-18 crash from the same base in June in Oregon.
