Pollution bylaw to hit farmers in Alberta
The Vancouver CP report says Alberta Wheat Pool officials estimate the city’s air pollution bylaw will cost about 50,000 Alberta wheat farmers roughly $20 each over the next two years. Dust collection equipment costing $1.0 to $1.3 million will be needed to meet the standard. The bylaw, effective June 1, 1971 for elevator operators, caps fines at 1000 and 500 a day for ongoing violations.

Languages bill gains opposition support in Commons
