Rail unions seek 45 cent hourly raise in Canada
Seventeen non operating railway unions demand a 45 cent hourly wage rise for new collective agreements to begin September 1. They seek a one cent per hour cost of living bonus per one point rise in the index, a union shop and union dues check off. A conference with railways is planned for Monday. The raise would equal about 35 percent and cost $150 million annually for CPR and CN plus affiliates. $167 million if unorganized employees are included. The unions, representing 125000 workers, sent their letter yesterday. Frank Hull chairs the negotiating committee. The current two year agreement expires August 1, stemming from a Kellock award after the 1950 railway strike.

British Aid Fund Food Spending Under 15 Percent
