Addis Ababa reports heavy casualties in fighting on the Eritrean frontier between Italian and Ethiopian forces. Djibouti seaport holds up 5,000,000 cartridges for Ethiopia. Mussolini convenes navy council in Rome for talks on the Ethiopian adventure. Italian forces develop ground-chemical to burn through shoe leather.
Weatherman Charles Pickering releases a report showing June precipitation at 1.06 inches versus last year’s 4.72. The mean temperature was 60.6, max 49.9 on June 22, min 37.4 on June 6, total sunshine 228.2 hours, and a ten year average of 2.50 inches for June.
Several hundred relief workers in Drumheller valley walked off municipal relief projects in Nacmine Rosedale East Coulee and Drumheller today in a 24-hour sympathetic strike. The protest targeted the treatment of anti Ottawa marchers in Regina with no disorder reported.
