Paris July 3 A massive French offensive south of the Somme reported complete success with gains of second German positions on a five kilometer front. Berbecourt east of the Meuse fell, Damoup redoubt changed hands, and trenches extended to Assevillers edge. North of the Somme no major breaks occurred as Germans faced artillery and counter fire.
