The Leger Marketing survey of 1,507 Canadians from June 5 to 13 found 75.5 percent say helping end a loved one's life due to incurable pain should not be prosecuted while 16.3 percent support prosecution and 8.1 percent abstained. In Alberta 64.1 percent oppose prosecution.
Neepawa Manitoba relief eyes cost at several million after 125 mm of rain triggered flash floods. The dike was breached forcing 13 families to evacuate as water receded over the long weekend. Mayor Ken Waddell warned that flood stage remains and more rain could worsen the situation.

Heather Baum of Saamis Immigration Centre highlighted national pride and ongoing learning about Canada through citizenship classes. Alla Boylan from Ukraine celebrated becoming part of a great society and expressed global citizenship while feeling Canadian at heart.
