The Leger Marketing survey of 1,507 Canadians from June 5 to 13 found 75.5 percent say helping end a loved one's life due to incurable pain should not be prosecuted while 16.3 percent support prosecution and 8.1 percent abstained. In Alberta 64.1 percent oppose prosecution.

33 Hatters Become Canadians on Canada Day Ceremony

Thirty three new Canadians from 18 countries were sworn in at Kin Coulee Park during Canada Day celebrations. Hyasanth Cordeiro praised Canada as a welcoming place after arriving from East Africa 26 years ago. Sinisa Pejic, who fled Bosnia Herzegovina in 1997, spoke of freedom and a bright future as a Canadian citizen listening to his new anthem. Heather Baum of Saamis Immigration Centre highlighted national pride and ongoing learning about Canada through citizenship classes. Alla Boylan from Ukraine celebrated becoming part of a great society and expressed global citizenship while feeling Canadian at heart.
