French parliament imposes immediate ban on 3500 foreign terms in ads schools government and corporations. English words such as cheeseburger chewing gum bulldozer must be replaced by French equivalents like bout eurs gomme a macher mercatique and logiciels.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons banned 74 year old Stan ley Walsh from practising in Alberta and blacklisted him across North America after finding seven charges proven. Walsh engaged in sexual intercourse with a girl who was 13 and arranged for her to have sex with others at his home between 1980 and 1986. He was struck off the register and ordered to pay almost 20 000 in costs. The council noted the victim later sought counselling from Walsh, who referred her to a psychiatrist but continued the inappropriate conduct.
WHO figures show AIDS global cases rising 60 percent in 12 months from 2.5 million to four million. Sub-Saharan Africa hosts 2.5 million. Asia cases jump eightfold to 250,000.
