Pasadena report: motorists fought for removal of a fire plug blamed for parking issues. Four years of council wrangling ended when a Thursday fire near the former plug caused 15 000 dollars in damage. Firemen laid a hose across a railroad track and the main street before the blaze was controlled and the plug ordered restored.

Edmonton police charged 40 year old Michael Joseph Hayes with the axe killing of William W. McKay at a suburban boxcar party. A 40 year old railroad worker identified as a material witness was detained. McKay, a 59 year old warehouse worker, was robbed of 118 dollars and buried in a shallow grave in front of Hayes boxcar home. Robbins was arrested as a witness. two others were sought for digging the grave.

In Halifax early today thirty six horses bolted from a burning stable at the Halifax riding and driving club. One horse died from burns and another suffered serious injuries but is expected to recover. The blaze destroyed much equipment and caused tens of thousands of dollars in losses.
More than 500 carpenters of Local 1779 of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America AFL will vote this afternoon on a strike after rejection of an arbitration award. The award recommended a ten cent per hour wage increase by the Calgary General Contractors Association and the provincial board of industrial relations will supervise the vote.
