Ottawa announces Canada’s fifteenth parliament has ceased to exist with the dissolution. Rumors of dissolution had circulated, but the House was not expected to adjourn yet. Legislation pending includes the Campbell Grain Act amendments and soldiers settlement land revaluation.
Ottawa reports the Meighen administration defeated 96 to 95 after a Liberal non confidence motion alleging ministers acted outside privileges. Progressives who had supported the government shifted sides. one MP, T W Bird, forgot his paired vote and later regretted the error. Parliament expected to be dissolved.
Los Angeles reports a county Grand Jury will investigate the Aimee Semple McPherson kidnappery story upon her return from Douglas Arizona. Post office inspectors disclosed a letter meant as proof the pastor is alive was altered to conceal that donations and pledges arrived before a memorial service for the missing evangelist.
Corrected figures from the Ktal kom poll in Cypress show Baker 28 and Foster 44 with Tyme not listed. The initial tally had Baker 24.
A powerful earthquake in Central Sumatra on Tuesday leaves at least 200 dead and many homes at risk of collapse in Padang and surrounding areas. Rescue efforts continue as aftershocks threaten further damage.
A Labour motion censuring the Baldwin government over the coal strike failed in the House of Commons by 256 to 95. The defeat preserves the government’s position and marks a decisive parliamentary rebuke to the opposition.
The Farmers party expands to 40 seats with four confirmation wins on second counts. Liberals hold Bow Valley Athabasca St. Albert Victoria while government candidates lead in Innisfail Stony Plain Leduc Macleod and Pincher Creek. Second counts upcoming for several ridings include Wetaskiwin Victoria Edson Stoney Plain Saint Albert and Innisfail.
A large contract at Brackett Alberta has been awarded to Ben Scanlon for the general contract on the Indian school building. The project totals around $65,000. Marsh and Scott secured the plumbing heating and ventilating contract valued near $12,500.
A city crowd heard C. B Blanchard urge youth to broader outlook and duty as Medicine Hat Assembly No 27 organized a Dominion Day revival. A parade of 1500 to 2000 school children preceded by the Battalion Band toured Riverside Park with provincial tableaux from Prince Edward Island Quebec Nova Scotia and other regions. The event impressed attendees and foreshadowed a grand Dominion Day pageant planned for 1926.
Rainfall yesterday drenched southeastern Alberta with patchy but valuable precipitation for crops. The heaviest rain occurred around Irvine and south to Elkwater, while Woolchester and Gros Ventre saw light showers. Five to eight hours of good rain stretched from Calgary to Swift Current, with strong showers along the Crow's Nest rail line and heavy rain south of Seven Persons.
Jake Weger, located eleven miles southwest of the city, is harvesting about 100 acres of rye. He reports a yield near twenty bushels per acre and notes cutting began on the previous Wednesday.

A fire at 5 am in the hardware department of W. W. Cooper department store in Swift Current caused an estimated loss of 300000, with Cooper Block ruined and Bertin Block badly damaged. Firefighters fought for hours to control the blaze as windows shattered and walls collapsed. Insurance partly covers the losses. residents evacuated with belongings lost. Postponed events include Hagle theatre moving to Lyric theatre. The cause remains unknown though believed burning occurred hours before discovery by CPR workers.
After breaking all attendance records for the Lethbridge fair on Dominion Day a general rain began Friday morning over Southern Alberta delaying today’s attendance. The rain, however, improves the crop outlook for the region.
Ottawa reports Premier Meighen announces dissolution of parliament after a one vote defeat to end the Mackenzie King government. He says early election will follow cabinet completion and a date soon to be set, possibly August 17 under statutory delay. Lewis Maus of Paris Ont. is reported dead.

Reports of dry weather in Western Canada and the Northwest spurred speculative buying while July offerings were ample and quickly absorbed leaving a firm close with July at 1.493 4, October 1.33 and December 1.303 4. Coarse grains trailed the trend with little cash demand.
