Police found a sleeping man in a furniture department bed at the Brookfield shopping center after an alarm. Officers said the break in was for warmth and he decided to steal nothing, leaving a pile of electronic items in the parking lot.
Medicine Hat MP Monte Solberg says harmonizing GST with provincial tax would not change Ottawa revenue and Alberta will not adopt a provincial sales tax. Treasurer Jim Dinning and Ralph Klein ally Sheila Copps push, but Alberta vows zero PIT revenue. Local business owner Steve Moore prefers a flat seven percent GST to varying rates.
