Hemp oil company to add 250 jobs in Medicine Hat

Folium Biosciences plans two extraction and processing facilities totaling 180000 square feet at Box Springs Business Park this year. Medicine Hat mayor highlights economic push after public works

In a State of the City address the Medicine Hat mayor urged private sector follow through after a major public works program. Foliom Biosciences announced a US 30 million hemp plant and packaging facility in the north end, with 110000 square feet and about 250 jobs.

Alberta buys land for flood mitigation reservoir west of Calgary

Alberta government has acquired two square kilometres from the Robinson cattle ranch in Springbank as part of a planned reservoir to protect Calgary from floods. The province has now secured about 20 percent of the nearly 16 square kilometre footprint, with total project cost set at 432 million dollars. Transportation Minister Brian Mason says expropriation is a last resort.
