A new wave of German raiders attacked British shipping for the second day running. One raider was shot down, two sailors were killed on trawlers, and the steamship L487 was missing with 41 crew. Heaviest blasts centered on the east coast near Yarmouth as four steamships and a patrol boat were hit.
The aging Id Standpipe on Fourth Street, once central to the city water supply, is being dismantled after decades of use. Built in 19XX at a cost of funds from the city and power plant upgrades, it supplied water via the river intake until repairs allowed continued service. now replaced by modern facilities, the standpipe is reallocated for new uses.
