Refugee arrivals surge in Medicine Hat community
Government sponsored Syrian refugees have begun arriving in Medicine Hat with 12 families plus two privately sponsored families last week. Saamis Immigration says up to 108 more are expected by February end. Since Dec 29 to Jan 20, 87 arrived. 23 moved elsewhere, 64 remain, including 21 adults and 23 children from 12 families. Mayor Clugston voices concern about broader funding and infrastructure costs.
