A Edmonton delegation and ratepayers urged suspending the proposed Holden school division plan for two years after meeting Premier Aberhart and the Minister of Education. A petition signed by ratepayers was presented amid fears of higher taxes and reduced policy and expenditure controls.
Edmonton January 21 The appellate division reserved judgment on the appeal of George F. Powell a British Social Credit adviser to the Alberta government against his six months for defamatory libel. J A Urwin of Social Credit Centre Edson was also appealing a three month sentence from Justice Ives. Both cases stem from distributing a pamphlet entitled Bankers Toadies which named nine Edmonton men.
At Edmonton the United Farmers of Alberta voted to continue federal affiliation with the Co operative Commonwealth Federation after a two day debate. A ballot showed a narrow majority favoring continued national ties while provincial ties remained undecided. The convention also pressed for improved farm credit, crop insurance study, and drought relief measures.

Montreal reports Charles W Flora a commercial artist convicted of murder and sentenced to hang on May 6 for the killing of Elizabeth Armstrong in a suburban Veragun home. The jury found Flora, linked to the Armstrong family for many years, beat the woman to death after one of her children discovered her body.
