Vander Veen Denied Bail in Alberta Court

Randy E. Vander Veen had bail denied in Medicine Hat Provincial Court after refusing to comply with court orders. He pleaded guilty to an assault charge on December 21 and was to sign a peace bond prohibiting contact with the victim, which he initially refused and later consented to. He breached the order on January 16 and again in court shortly after, leading Crown counsel to argue he would skip future hearings. The judge noted the court order means nothing to him, and the case was adjourned to January 30.
