More than 3,000 schools nationwide participated in the Student Vote program with 25 Medicine Hat schools joining. Results released Monday show Medicine Hat students strongly favoured a Conservative government, following research on parties before voting. Brooks Bandits to Host 30000 Grand Prize Raffle

The Brooks Bandits Junior A hockey club will hold a Feb. 3 raffle offering a $30,000 grand prize. Second prize is $7,000, with three $1,000 and two $500 prizes. Only 1,200 tickets available to Alberta residents aged 16 or older. If no winner comes forward, prize goes to the Bandit team. Early third draw held on Dec. 17.

Royal Alberta Museum hosts Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition

The Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton will host Wildlife Photographer of the Year from January 28 to April 23. The show displays 90 winning and highly commended entries selected by an expert panel from the world’s largest wildlife photography competition and includes an awards ceremony with the Wildlife Photographer of the Year trophy.

Public urged to support DARE program in Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat Police Service asks the public to donate to the DARE Association to sustain the Grade 6 anti-drug program. Since 1996 the program has educated about 650 students citywide, ending with a written exam and graduation ceremony with a DARE T-shirt. For more details, contact Sgt. Devastation near Dunmore spurs aid for homeless family

A rural fire near Dunmore left a family homeless Sunday. The Santa Claus Fund donated 1000 to Mamey Chalifoux and belated gifts for three children. Local businesses and groups including Laureate Theta and the Red Cross dispatched support, with plans for ongoing donations next week.
