Canadian Textile Group urges swift action against Japanese goods
The Canadian Allied Trades association passed a resolution urging the federal government to protect textile and allied industries from what it calls unfair competition from Japanese rayon and cotton goods. It notes 2,000 workers have already lost jobs as plants closed and cites Japanese rayons at about 11 cents a yard versus production costs of 17 cents in Canada.
