Bylaws Move Forward In City Council Session

Several bylaws to borrow money for projects cleared first reading on Monday night. Bylaw No 3685 seeks 1,020,000 dollars to overhaul stormwater along Division Avenue North in Crescent Heights. CAO Gerry Labas says flow checks show where pipe replacement is needed as sections fail and emergency repairs were required. The bylaw advances to public notice before further readings at the next meeting.

Redcliff RCMP chase fuels theft suspects near Redcliff

Redcliff RCMP explain that on January 21 at 8:50 a.m. a theft was reported at a Suffield fuel station. The vehicle fled east on the Trans-Canada Highway toward Redcliff, police pursued. two men fled on foot in Medicine Hat and were later arrested by Medicine Hat Police Service. Investigation continues with possible charges. Redcliff RCMP urge seatbelt use with a $115 fine this year and remind drivers front window tint is illegal.

Brooks RCMP investigate crash near Highway 884

Brooks RCMP say a steamer truck driver lost control on a curve about 12 kilometres south of Highway 544 early on January 22. The vehicle rolled, the driver required Jaws of Life extraction and was taken to Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Investigators continue.

Man charged in fatal road chase

Edmonton police charge 32 year old Raymond Charles Yellowknee of Wabasca with four counts of dangerous driving causing death after a head on crash with a stolen pickup chased by police. Accused also faces causing death while fleeing, possession of stolen property and driving while suspended. Female driver and two female youths died. a six year old girl was injured and died Sunday.
