Canadian sprinters Ben Johnson and Angella Taylor Issajenko led the America's Cup Festival of Sport track meet in Perth. Johnson won the 100 metres in 9.7 seconds hand timed with 3.5 m/s wind, not official world record conditions. Issajenko took the 100 metres in 10.8 seconds beating Australian Diane Holden.
The Calgary organizing committee widens its inquiry into ticket problems to include public orders. About 52 000 first day public orders are under review after discovery that around 2 500 orders were not mailed. An outside consultant will trace postmarkless orders to their origins.
