Many Ships Disabled on Storm Lashed Atlantic
A fierce Atlantic storm left several ships in distress. The British freighter Tees Bridge and Italian steamer Florida were reportedly in need of immediate assistance, while the American tanker Danedaike, and the Italian freighter Florida were guiding rescue efforts 800 miles east of Virginia Capes. At Edmonton’s Provincial Seed Fair last week Medicine Hat district exhibitors earned top prizes across corn and other crops. David Hol linger of Redcliff led with four firsts in corn entries including ten ears each of Yellow Flint White Flint Northwestern Dent and a fodder variety. George Worthy of Medicine Hat took second in 100 ear corn and first in ten ears Yellow Dent with Minnesota No 13. Other winners included Peter Schau Balmoral Street Allan Murray Ralph Gechter Whitla and O F Reeves Box Springs with awards in sweet corn popcorn white and yellow varieties flax seed and Green Mountain potatoes.

W. Komolewsky of 1158 Elm St was fined 300 and costs for keeping liquor for sale after police raided his home and found a twenty gallon crack three quarters full of moonshine and a twelve gallon barrel nearly full. He chose three months imprisonment and was taken to Lethbridge. his wife’s similar charge was withdrawn. The analyst found alcohol well above legal limits. Magistrate Ellis doubted the vinegar defense and said the liquid was moonshine.
