Third Czech sets fire to himself in Brno square
Prague Radio reports a 23-year-old locksmith Miroslav Malinka set himself on fire in Brno near a memorial to Jan Palach. It is the third attempted self-immolation in a week, with Palach’s death the sole clearly political protest so far. Malinka is in good condition with second degree burns about 12 percent of his body. Palach, 21, died after immolating himself in Prague last Thursday to protest reforms reversed under Soviet occupation. Ten people perish in California flood rescue attempt
