Union pickets at Suffield protest layoffs in Alberta
About 115 members of the Union of National Defence Employees Local 907 and 910 picketed at Defence Research Establishment Suffield and Canadian Forces Base Suffield during their noon hour. They protested layoffs in Alberta and stalled negotiations, with UNDE regional VP Cliff Anten noting the peaceful, non striking action and the loss of over 600 jobs since 1976 from roughly 2,700 Alberta positions.
