The Teflon dome at B C Place in Vancouver was reinflated two weeks after a collapse. General manager Howard Crosley says the roof appears sound and a full inspection by engineers and the roof’s manufacturer is planned. The 60,000 seat stadium, home to the CFLs B C Lions, is booked for events for four months and will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games.

New Democrat Randy Collins and Conservative Kathy Goudie are leaving politics after allegations by the auditor general about their spending habits amid a police investigation.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Fidel Castro is battling for his life after a long talk with the ailing Cuban leader. Chavez compared Castro’s bid to recover to the Sierra Maestra days and described Castro as fighting for life.
