Residents of Irvine and Walsh export concerns voiced to the conservation board hearing yesterday. Two farmers unions pressed to open the field to Saskatchewan Power for export to supply gas to smaller towns and farms.
Four day hearing before the Petroleum and Natural Gas Conservation Board considered Saskatchewan Power Corporation’s push to export 222 billion cubic feet of Medicine Hat gas. City of Medicine Hat and chamber opposed. farmers and unions voiced support for export citing provincial royalties and local benefits. Judgment anticipated late February. See EXPORT CASE Page 6.
In St. Croix Falls Wisconsin three unnamed physicians revived William Fruchling after his heart stopped. They sutured near the breastbone and delivered manual massage with oxygen direct to the lungs then used a lamp extension cord to deliver two electric shocks to the heart, restoring a heartbeat and moving Fruchling off the critical list.
A playful bus driver asks a five year old when he will turn six. The child responds that he will be six as soon as he gets off the bus. The exchange captures a lighthearted moment from daily life.

Three U S Air Force B 52 Strat jets completed the first jet bomber non stop round the world flight covering 24325 miles in 45 hours 19 minutes. The mission began at Castle Air Force Base California January 16 with in flight refueling and a fourth plane detouring to Britain.
Britalta Co offered to sell city gas rights at five cents per thousand cubic feet beneath acreage. Witness Robert L Reed quoted correspondence with city solicitor J G Kidd and the offer's cash or bond payment terms. Expert John Powning pegged in place gas value at one cent per thousand, while Downing forecast prices rising to ten cents in a decade and noted 120 billion cubic feet of reserves.
London Reuters reports Dr. Gerald Gibbons of Sidmouth Devonshire documented a prebirth cry from an unborn baby in the Lancet. While the mother slept for a minor prenatal operation, witnesses heard a clear remote cry. The doctor confirmed the cry originated from the fetus by placing his head to the mother's abdomen.
