December cost of living climbs on food price rise
Statistics Canada reports December consumer prices up seven tenths of one per cent led by a 1.6 per cent jump in food costs. For the year ending December 1977, inflation hit 9.5 per cent, the highest since January 1976, with food accounting for about two thirds of the rise.
